Risks and recovery
Every advanced treatment carries some risk. Here is what to expect and what to plan around, in plain English.
Redness and swelling
Common after peels, needling, laser and advanced skin treatments. Usually settles within hours to a few days.
Bruising
Possible after some advanced treatments. Plan around events, photos and travel for at least a week.
Changes in pigment
Laser and peels can darken or lighten skin, especially on deeper skin tones or after sun exposure. A patch test and sun care lower the risk.
Infection
Rare when aftercare is followed. Contact us straight away if you notice heat, spreading redness or pain that gets worse.
Allergic reaction
Tell us about every allergy and medication, including supplements. We ask again at each visit.
Results that differ from what you hoped
Results vary between people. We talk honestly about what is realistic before anything is done.
Planning around recovery
Avoid booking advanced treatments in the two weeks before a wedding, holiday or important event. Some treatments need sun avoidance for several weeks. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on certain medications, some treatments are not suitable. When in doubt, we will ask you to check with your GP.
