A lash lift and tint is one of the simplest ways to look more awake without wearing makeup. It works with your natural lashes, so there is nothing to fill, nothing to fall off and nothing that looks fake.

Here is what happens during the appointment, how long the result lasts and how to look after your lashes so it lasts as long as possible.

What a lash lift and tint does

A lash lift curls your natural lashes upwards from the base, so they look longer and more open. A tint darkens the lashes from root to tip, which is especially helpful if your lash tips are fair or fine.

The result looks like your own lashes after a good coat of mascara, only it lasts for weeks. Lash lift and tint at Velour is $130.

We do not offer extensions. We focus on lifting and tinting natural lashes, because many of our clients want low upkeep and a look that suits everyday life, prayer and work.

What happens at your appointment

The appointment takes place lying down in a private room. You keep your eyes closed the whole time.

  1. We check your lashes, ask about allergies and any previous reactions, and make sure the lift suits you.
  2. Your lashes are cleaned so they are free of oil and makeup.
  3. A soft silicone shield is placed on each upper eyelid. The size is chosen to suit your lash length and the curl you want.
  4. Lashes are gently brushed up onto the shield.
  5. A lifting solution softens the lashes so they take the new shape.
  6. A setting solution holds the curl.
  7. The tint is applied and left for a few minutes.
  8. Everything is cleaned away and lashes are conditioned.

Most people find it relaxing. Some even fall asleep.

How long does it last?

Most people enjoy the result for around six to eight weeks. Lashes grow in cycles and shed naturally, so the lift fades gradually as new, straight lashes grow in. The tint fades a little sooner on some people, especially if you wash your face with oil cleansers often.

Booking every six to eight weeks keeps lashes looking consistent. We do not recommend lifting more often than that, as lashes need time to rest.

Who it suits

A lash lift suits natural lashes of most lengths. It works especially well if:

  • your lashes are straight or point downwards
  • your lash tips are fair, so lashes look shorter than they are
  • you have hooded eyes and lashes touch the lid
  • you want to skip mascara or eyelash curlers

It may not be right if:

  • your lashes are very short or sparse
  • you have an eye infection, irritation or a stye
  • you have had eye surgery recently
  • you have reacted to hair dye or lash products before

We check suitability before we start. If you have sensitive eyes or allergies, tell us when you book so a small skin test can be arranged ahead of time.

Aftercare: the first 24 hours

The first day matters most, because the lashes are still setting.

  • Keep lashes dry. No washing your face, steam, saunas or heavy exercise.
  • No mascara or eye makeup.
  • Avoid rubbing your eyes.
  • Try not to sleep face down on the first night.

If you are making wudu during this time, gently pat around the eye area and avoid wetting the lashes where you can. Ask us for tips if you would like to plan your appointment around prayer times.

Aftercare: the weeks after

  • Brush lashes upwards each morning with a clean spoolie.
  • Use an oil-free eye makeup remover if you wear mascara. Oil can loosen the lift sooner.
  • A lash conditioning serum can keep lashes soft. Ask us which type suits you.
  • Avoid eyelash curlers. They can kink lifted lashes.
  • Be gentle when removing makeup.

Timing for events

For a wedding, engagement or Eid, book your lash lift and tint around three to seven days before. This lets lashes settle into a soft, natural curl and gives you time to see the result before the big day. Always try it for the first time well before an important event.

Pairing with brows

Lash lift and tint pairs well with brow lamination or signature brow shaping. Done in the same visit, they frame your eyes and save you a second trip.

When to see your GP

If your eyes become red, swollen, itchy or painful after any lash treatment, or if you notice discharge, see your GP or pharmacist promptly. Tell us too, so we can note it on your record.

Quick answers

How long does a lash lift and tint last?

Most people enjoy the result for around six to eight weeks, as lashes naturally shed and regrow.

Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?

Wait 24 hours. After that, mascara is fine, but remove it gently with an oil-free remover.

Does a lash lift damage your lashes?

When done carefully and not repeated too often, a lash lift is gentle. We check your lashes are suitable before we start.
